Allison Houser is a gatherer, creative producer, director, actor and educator passionate about telling stories that reflect in both purpose and process a commitment to radical collaboration and inclusive conversation. Based in both Austin and New York City, she works in both theatre and film. You can call her Al.  

She serves as co-founder and creative producer of hawkhouse, a theatrical producing partnership between Al and Emily Hawkins that seeks to promote new stories and new voices. They have collaborated with artists/companies like Emma Goldman-Sherman, Taylor Steele, Neighborhood Theatre Project, Experimental Bitch Presents and Pigeonholed Theatre Co.

Al has also created and conceived film and theatre projects with artists/companies like Samantha Simone, Price Garrison, Bated Breath Theatre and No Name Collective. She created and devised Bated Breath’s current version of Unmaking Toulouse-Lautrec, an immersive theatrical experience, that has been a NY TimeOut Critics Pick and has been running for the last year in Downtown Manhattan. 

She is also a facilitator and educator with a focus on creating platforms for young people. Largely influenced by her Theatre of the Oppressed training, she equips young people with tools for exploring the depths of their imagination and for using their voices more confidently and effectively. She has worked with Brooklyn Acting Lab, Treasure Trunk Theatre and Inside Broadway. She recently launched a virtual arts program for kids and youth called Imagination Station.
